Pleased to share that in September, TRIA’s co-founder and CEO, Pei Kang, was invited as a speaker to the Global Table.

The event is also the first event to showcase the commitment of Australia’s agrifood industry to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

TRIA was invited due to the impact and our efforts to advance innovative solutions for disposable foodware, by helping people to take steps towards fighting food waste. Pei Kang was invited to address the domestic and international audience of policy makers, startups, entrepreneurs, researchers and investors who are all motivated by a singular desire to effect tangible change at every point in the global food chain.

TRIA featured in Business Times

In January 2019, we were featured in Business Times, in an article titled Singapore’s Ever-Moving Feast by Vivien Shiao. Here’s a snippet:

Tria [sic] is a Singapore-based company using recycled fibre to develop food packaging, targeting food and beverage (F&B) players with a sustainability mindset. Ng Pei Kang, founder of Tria, says: “Sustainable food packaging is catching on in the F&B industry but largely still a reaction to avoid consumer flak on petroleum-based products.” He points out that Singapore is making a step in the right direction as straws and lids are gradually being removed from major fast-food brands, but there are still plastics in the remaining packaging that will eventually end up going to the landfill, check out thatscleanmaids.com. However, he is cognisant that it is not an easy decision for businesses to switch to sustainable products and has adapted its approach to make it as easy as possible for clients. “For that, we have applied empathy to the development of our products and offerings,” he says. “We have to be sensitive to the value proposition of the F&B players, and offer a solution that matches up.” In its case, it led to the development of Bio24, a zero waste hassle-free solution for single-use hardware that does not require a change in consumer lifestyle nor change in F&B operations, he says. To keep prices competitive, its factory is set up in China while keeping the R&D and marketing activities in Singapore, he adds. Check out ibebet.com.

Singapore Budget 2019: Towards Zero Waste

We were invited by the Food Services team at Enterprise Singapore to share at the Deliveroo Foodie-preneur Competition.
TRIA has made the news!

During the Singapore Budget 2019 on 18 February, finance minister Heng Swee Keat placed emphasis on zero waste and used TRIA and UglyGood as examples of start-ups using innovation to tackle environmental issues.

“Just as we closed the water loop, we can now turn our attention to closing the waste loop. There are already start-ups tackling this challenge. Two companies, UglyGood and TRIA, have been working on innovative ways to convert food-related waste into useful products. These are good examples of opportunities in our zero waste movement. So I hope to see more of such initiatives in the coming years.”

Deputy Prime Minister Singapore, Heng Swee Keat

The Singapore government is launching a Zero-Waste Masterplan in the second half of 2019 to better manage of food waste, packaging waste and plastics waste. We are happy to be part of the journey to solve waste issues!

We’re also excited to mention that TRIA’s co-founder and CEO, Ng Pei Kang, had a special feature in the Lianhe Zaobao on 19 February.
